Plague Marine Sergeant

Having finished her Poxwalkers from the First Strike box set Meddy has moved onto painting the three Death Guard plague marines from the set. Initially I thought they would be too difficult for her to paint but she has made such good progress on the poxwalkers that I decided to let her have a go.

Her first effort was the sergeant of the unit who has had a plaguebearer head added in place of his helmet so that he better fits with both Meddy's poxwalkers and my own upcoming Death Guard marines.

She has started with a bone coloured undercoat and applied a couple of green washes to his flesh to get depth and shading. She has then applied base colourw to all the other details and given them either a brown or black wash. She has given his sword a rusted look by 'blobbing' Typhus Corrosion onto the blade before drybrushing with Ryza Rust.

The mouth in is stomach has come up especially well. She achieved this look by applying a brown wash to the whole area followed by a red wash to the areas nearest to his skin.

(Almost) Completed Poxwalkers

Five poxwalkers down and one to go from the First Strike box. Meddy's brush control has gotten better and better throughout the process and in her latest effort (far right of picture) she showed a steady hand when painting some quite small details (see goggle lenses and belt buckles).

Poxwalkers!

With her sister claiming the Primaris Marines from the 40k First Strike box, Meddy is painting up the Poxwalkers (and I'll be painting the Plague Marines that go with them).

Meddy has painted two poxwalkers so far and has applied glazes over a bone coloured base spray to build up colour before using washes to get better definition of the details. Ignoring Dad's advice she has decided not to try painting their eyes or mouths, but I'm still hoping I can get her to at least put a red wash in their mouths

As yet she is still undecided on how to base them but we'll probably end up basing them to match my Nurgle Daemons force.
